SunsetMcLennan, Alberta located in the beautiful Peace Country.  McLennan is  an hour drive south of Peace River, two hours northeast of Grande Prairie and approximately 4 hours northwest of Edmonton. 

McLennan is known as a transportation town, it is the hub of the Northern Railway Line. The rail
line from McLennan transports freight to and from the North up to Hay River,NWT and goes South from McLennan connecting to the Edmonton rail lines. In addition to rail service, the primary Highway 2 passes through the Town of McLennan.

February 2018 Council Meeting
The February Regular Meeting of Council will be held on Monday, February 12th at 7:00 p.m. in the Town Centre Building.  

New Lenten Lunches at the Legion Hall - Starts February 21
Delicious lunches will be served in support of the St. Paul's Heritage House at the McLennan Legion starting February 21 and on every wednesday until March 14, 2018.  Lunch will be served from 11:30am till 1:30pm for a cost of $10.00.

Enjoying the Lakeshore of Kimiwan Lake
Please remember that when enjoying the natural beauty of the lakeshore that this is a nature wildlife habitat and is used by both people and animals.  Stay cautious and alert for signs that animals have been there recently.  Some percautions to take are: Stay alert, keep children near and keep dogs leashed.  Report sightings of bears, cougars and other large predatory wildlife to the Town of McLennan at 780-324-3065 or the Peace River Conservation Office at 780-624-6405.

Trails & Rails Vol. 2 - A history book on McLennan is now reduced to $50.00 per copy and available at the Town Office, the Birdwalk and at the Legion during garage sales.

Tax Incentive for New Development in McLennan
A new policy has been passed that could provide you with a rebate of 100% on your municipal taxes for the first year .  This applies to new development and improvements to exisitng buildings.  A copy of the policy can be obtained at the town office.

Economic Development

Located in the heart of the Peace Country the Town of McLennan's strategic location provides potential business opportunities for retail and personal services to trades and industrial.

The most recent development in the area is only 2 kms west of the town, the Cargill $40 million state of the art farm service centre.

McLennan is home to just under 1,000 people, and being the centre of some core services for residents of surrounding communities, the town is the ideal community to start a new business in.

Locate where your customers have good access to you and where your suppliers can ship to you quickly.

Business Advantages:

  • Traffic
    A significant amount of traffic is generated through McLennan on Highway 2 (3rd Avenue) and the proposed road linking McLennan to the community of Peavine will provide the town with a larger serving area in the near future.
  • Railway Industry
    CN Rail has a base in McLennan and railway tracks running  through town.  The rail line services areas from Smith to Hay River, Northwest Territories consisting of major clients in the pulp, lumber and OSB mills, grain producers, and fuel distributors.

    A variety of lots are available through private developers.  The cost of land is lower than in larger centres.
